Pat Canadians Shine in North Battleford

Pat Canadians Shine in North Battleford

Luke Walters

The Regina Pat Canadians continued their winning ways on Saturday night in North Battleford, downing the Stars 5-2 at the Access Communications Centre.

The C’s leading point-getter Steven Steranka would get them on the board, 8 minutes into the opening frame for his 22nd goal this season.

With just under four minutes remaining in period one, Jadgen Taylor would find twine for his first goal of the season, giving his Pat Canadian squad a 2-0 lead heading into the break.

The Pat C’s powerplay would strike 2:22 into the 2nd period as captain Casey Brown would deposit his 11th goal of the campaign, while also increasing the lead to 3-0.

Ellis Mieyette would add to the lead at the 8:54 mark of period two for goal number 6 of the 2023-24 season, and a commanding 4-0 lead for the visiting Regina squad.

Just over 3 minutes later the Stars would get back in it as Lee Burden would find the back of the net for his 5th of the season, but that would be as close as they would get in the 2nd frame.

The Stars’ Tyce Penrod would cut the lead to two with 14:12 remaining in the 3rd with the assist coming from brother Trey.

The lead remained at 4-2, and would ultimately be the end to the Stars' comeback as Ellis Mieyette’s 2nd of the night sealed the deal, and the win for the Pat Canadians.

The C’s improve to 15-6-0 on the season and will return to action against the same Battleford Stars Sunday afternoon for a 2 PM puck drop from the Access Communications Centre.
