The Regina Pat Canadians are moving on. With three straight wins over a tough Saskatoon Contacts team, the Pat Cs swept their opening‑round SMAAAHL playoff series 3-0. They closed it out with a big 6-3 win on Wednesday night. Regina now awaits the winner of the Swift Current vs. Estevan series as they prepare for the semifinal round.
Game 1- Saskatoon 2 @ Regina 4
Regina set the tone early in the series with a composed 4–2 victory in Game 1, powered by special teams and a fast start. The Pat Canadians built a 4–0 lead through 40 minutes, with Malaki Martin scoring twice on the power play and Nathan Gardiner and Eli Heroux adding goals. Regina outshot Saskatoon 32–18 and killed all five Contacts power plays, while goaltender Adam Muntain turned aside 16 shots to secure the win. Saskatoon pushed back with two early third‑period goals, but Regina’s structure held firm to take a 1–0 series lead.
Game 2 – Regina 4 @ Saskatoon 1
Game 2 followed a similar script, with Regina again striking early and controlling key moments in a 4–1 victory. The Pat Canadians’ power play delivered two first‑period goals — from Gardiner and Liam Pue — giving Regina early control. Grady Hodgins extended the lead early in the second before Saskatoon finally broke through late in the period. The Contacts generated pressure in the third, but Ben Meyer was outstanding in goal, stopping 28 of 29 shots in a composed playoff performance. An empty‑netter from Brodie Bowen sealed the win and pushed Regina to a commanding 2–0 series advantage.
Game 3 – Saskatoon 3 @ Regina 6
With a chance to sweep in Game 3, the Pat Canadians delivered their most complete effort of the series, skating to a 6–3 victory behind relentless pressure and balanced scoring. Regina fired 49 shots on goal and responded to every Saskatoon push. Eli Heroux opened the scoring before the Contacts briefly took the lead, but a late first‑period goal from Pue restored momentum. Maddox Schultz put Regina ahead in the second with a power‑play marker, and after Saskatoon tied the game early in the third, the Pat Canadians took over. Goals from Bowen, Logan Dosenberger, and an empty‑netter from Martin put the game out of reach. Muntain made 21 saves for his second win of the series.
Across the three‑game sweep, Regina showcased the traits of a team rounding into playoff form: depth scoring, disciplined special teams, strong goaltending, and the ability to elevate in key moments. With the opening round complete, the Pat Canadians now shift their focus to the semifinal, where they will meet the winner of the Swift Current–Estevan series. Game 1 will go a Tuesday night at 7:00 pm at the Cooperators Centre.
