Pat Canadians Fall 3–1 to Halifax in Hard‑Fought Telus Cup Semi-Final

The Regina Pat Canadians saw their chance to repeat as Telus Cup Champions come to an end on Saturday afternoon, dropping a tight 3–1 semi-final decision to the Halifax Macs in a tightly defended game,

Both teams came out committed to detail, with chances hard to come by and every puck battle contested. Regina broke through first midway through the opening period when Brodie Bowen jammed home a loose puck during a goal‑mouth scramble, finishing a sequence created by Logan Dosenberger and Jett Donison.

The Pats carried that 1–0 lead into the intermission, backed by organized defending and strong early work from Ben Meyer.

The second period continued in the same tight-checking rhythm, with both teams trading limited looks and both goaltenders settling in.

A late push from Halifax finally shifted momentum. With just 51 seconds left in the frame, the Macs capitalized on a broken play, as River Welsh snapped home the tying goal to make it 1–1 heading into the third. It was the spark Halifax needed.

The final period again featured disciplined, playoff-style hockey — layers of support, blocked shots, and little room to attack. Halifax managed to break the deadlock at 9:12, when Carter Sullivan found space in the slot and converted to give the Macs their first lead of the afternoon.

Regina pressed late, generating looks with the goalie pulled, but Halifax sealed the result with an empty-netter from Will Shearer in the final minute.

With the loss, the Pat Cs will now face the Okanagan Rockets in the Bronze medal game.
