The road to the TELUS Cup officially runs through Regina this weekend as the 2026 U18 AAA Western Regionals drop the puck at the Co‑operators Centre. Four teams—each representing their respective branch will battle for the right to advance to Canada’s National U18 Club Championship.
This year’s field brings together a mix of champions, rivals, and regional powerhouses.
Thunder Bay Kings – Hockey Northwestern Ontario Representative
Thunder Bay punched their ticket by sweeping the Kenora Thistles 2–0 in their regional playdown. The team is dedicated to player development and has recently partnered with the Northern Ontario AAA Hockey League and the Great North U18AAA League for the 2025/26 season.
Winnipeg Bruins – Manitoba Representative
The Winnipeg Bruins enter the tournament as one of the hottest teams in the country. They not only swept the Brandon Wheat Kings 3–0 in the Manitoba final, but also dominated the Manitoba U18 AAA league with a remarkable 42‑3‑1‑0 record. They have a combination of depth, speed, and scoring touch makes them a legitimate threat to win the entire event.
Regina Pat Canadians – Host Team & Saskatchewan Champions
Regina enters Regionals as both the host team and the SMAAAHL champions, having defeated the Moose Jaw Warriors 3–2 in a thrilling provincial final. The Pat Canadians will look to carry that championship energy into the weekend as they compete on home ice in front of a strong local crowd.
Moose Jaw Warriors – Saskatchewan Representative
Moose Jaw earns the second Saskatchewan berth as the provincial representative. After pushing Regina to the limit in the SMAAAHL final, the Warriors arrive with something to prove and a roster capable of beating anyone in the field.
